At Four Corners Animal Hospital patients receive all their medical care within the hospital including x-rays, blood tests, prescriptions, and surgeries. Explore our hospital below.

Reception

When you arrive at FCAH you are greeted in our warm and friendly reception area. Here the medical records are entered in the computer system for new patients or retrieved for existing patient’s check-in. The reception area is divided with a separate waiting area for dogs, and a separate waiting area for cats. Special diets and nutritional items are displayed for purchasing.

Exam Rooms

At one end of the reception area there are three exam rooms for dogs and at the opposite end a completely separate exam room for cats. An exam room nurse makes the patient comfortable, obtains the weight and temperature. Then the doctor begins with the medical history, a complete physical exam, collection of specimens, and minor procedures. We examine the heart and lungs; eyes, ears, nose and throat; skin; reproductive organs; muscles and skeleton; teeth; abdomen; and lymph nodes.

Treatment Room and Intensive Care

The main treatment room is the hub of the Animal Hospital. Patients requiring hospitalization receive special care, diagnostic procedures, and treatments in this area. There are four treatment stations each fully equipped for most procedures. The intensive-care unit, and recovery from anesthesia and surgery is located off to the side of this area. This allows for continuous monitoring of critical care patients. In addition, large glass windows and glass doors enable us to closely observe these patients while they are resting comfortably.

Surgery and Operating Room

Our sterile double operating room is where we perform routine spays and neuters, as well as more advanced orthopedic and exploratory surgeries including C-section, tumor excision, biopsies, cruciate repair, patella luxation, and fractures. The surgical suite is equipped with advanced equipment including a wide variety of cardiac and respiratory monitors, life support systems, and anesthetic machines, etc. During surgery, a nurse is always present for close monitoring of patients.

Laboratory

Our laboratory is equipped to analyze blood, urine and fecal specimens. In addition, we do bacterial and fungal cultures, and perform cytologic and microscopic evaluation of various tissues. Special diagnostic tests and evaluation of biopsies for cancer is processed in our laboratory and then sent to a national laboratory in New York for further pathological analysis.

Medical and Surgical Wards

Hospitalized patients stay in the medical or surgical wards for daily treatments and diagnostic monitoring. They are seen by the veterinarian at least twice a day, and hourly by a nurse.

Dentistry

Keeping our pet’s teeth clean and healthy is just as important as keeping our own mouth clean and healthy. Dental disease can cause or worsen many medical problems, and it is often painful for your pet. Regular dental prophy reduces the risk for cardiac and other systemic diseases, minimizes the need for extractions, and is a lot less expensive in the long term. Unlike humans, dental procedures in pets are done under general anesthesia. Patients must have a pre-anesthetic blood test done at least two days before having periodontal scaling and polishing.

Isolation

The isolation room is located in a remote part of the building. It has its own ventilation system to reduce the risk for transmission of air borne disease. Patients with highly contagious and infectious diseases are hospitalized in this area. Very few clinics have such an isolation area.

Radiology

We are fully equipped with a 300mA, 125kV x-ray machine and automatic film processor for obtaining diagnostic radiographs. This equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many medical disorders. For optimal patient care, the hospital is designed to have an enclosed X-ray room and a separate film developing dark room located next to the surgery suite.

Pharmacy

Our pharmacy dispenses most of the medications necessary for treating our patients. This allows us to ensure the absence of drug interactions and discuss any potential side effects of the dispensed drugs. Dispensed medications include antibiotics, analgesics, arthritics, narcotics, cardiacs, chemo-therapeutics, hormones, and heartworm preventative. Our prices for flea control medications and heartworm preventatives are competitive with other hospitals and internet suppliers. However, you can rest assured that when you obtain medications from us they are genuine with correct expiration dates, and you could call us anytime regarding these medicines and the response of your pet to this treatment.

Boarding

Four Corners Animal Hospital is proud to be “home” for your pet while you are away. We provide a clean, comfortable, and caring environment for him or her during their stay. All boarding pets are housed in separate rooms away from hospitalized patients. Hospitalized patients have their own wards and intensive care unit. The HVAC system is designed to be completely independent and separated so that the air does not mix or carry air born germs from one area to another.

Dogs are kept in air-conditioned runs that are washed twice daily. During this time they are walked outside for exercise twice daily for 15 minutes. Cats are kept in a separate climate controlled room with large windows, far away from any dogs. They are allowed free roaming exercise in a separate room for at least one hour.
